Ohio Bills Legislative Guide

The Ohio legislature is returning from break and will soon take these bills up again. Now is the time to make your voice heard! Here are some of the most urgent bills related to immigrants and immigration:
- SB 172 — Requires all officials to allow all immigration-related arrests with or without a warrant, even if the person is only “suspected” of being undocumented (Passed in Senate, now in House)
- HB 42 — Requires agencies (including schools) to collect/report immigration & citizenship data
- HB 200 — Requires law enforcement and local governments to cooperate with federal immigration policies and punishes those who refuse
- HB 281 — Requires hospitals to cooperate with federal immigration policies
- HB 282 — Requires courts to consider immigration status as a factor in sentencing/bail
- HB 386 — Makes it more difficult for some immigrants to acquire a marriage license (passed in the House of Representatives in November)
